The mini-mental state examination is a short test use to assess basic cognitive function and assisn a score. The raw score can be use to aid in the diagnosis of conditions resulting in cognitive impairment, such as:
The test is commonly used to monitor the course of cognitive changes in an individual over time and response to treatment (for example drugs use to treat dementia).
